Position Assessment
Throughout the month of August and during the summer I’ve been very busy getting ready for the start of the year, and making sure that I’m available to all of you. During the summer I connected with the freshmen representatives for the first time just so they knew who I was before we went into core camp, and also so they knew that I was there to help them. During core camp I led our homecoming discussion to determine our themes that we would have the school vote on during Club Rush. Before school started I worked during registration on both days selling ASB stickers for $55; we sold a good amount of stickers which serve as a fundraiser for leadership. In early August I purchased red, white, and black Pura Vida bracelets that will also serve as a fundraiser for leadership. Those should be coming in soon and I hope to sell them before homecoming to kick it off with something small that people can use for spirit. In the past these bracelets have been sold for $5 but since we need to fundraise I’m thinking to raise the price to $6 that would allow us to make $300 in profit. As a class we started working on Club Rush immediately because that was going to be our first big event of the year. To prepare for Club Rush I attended the monthly club meeting as ASB President so I would know what’s going on, and I also attended to receive information about my own clubs. I checked in with David to make sure that he had the Club Rush day layout and clubs all together, just so he knew that I was there to support him in any way if he needed help. I delegated different jobs to people throughout Club Rush such as poster making and BTSD ticket selling. While selling BTSD tickets I also helped Morty by selling My Intent bracelets where I was able to sell around 40 bracelets. I helped the classes make a poster for their t-shirts and also assisted them in filling out the PO for their class merchandise. Alongside planning Club Rush, we received the “all clear” to start planning for the Back to School Dance that was scheduled for only a week and a half away. So I worked with Avery for the past few weeks in trying to get every aspect of the dance planned such as securing a location, working with the DJ, getting waters, and preparing decorations. Although the dance did not happen when it was supposed to, we are prepared for our next try at it in a few weeks, hopefully feeling more confident that we’ve had a little more time to get things together for it. At the same time I started working on our Cool Hand Luke’s fundraiser with Morty. I created the ticket selling groups and we figured out the timeline for selling tickets and when we need to have money turned in by. My next project that I will be working on is all components of Homecoming.
Standing Committee
The standing committee I’m a part of is the balloon arch committee, where we will be constructing balloon arches for various events throughout the year. Our first arch that we will be making is for the BTSD, we had it planned for the initial date of the dance but will follow through with this project for the new BTSD date.
Special Committee
The BTSD wasn’t a formally established special committee but I have been working on the dance with Avery as she is the main person in charge of it. We only had a week and a half to plan the dance and spent a lot of time figuring out every detail of the dance since we had to plan it so fast. I assisted Avery in communicating with admin about the location of the dance, fencing with the dance, and other concerns they had with us putting the dance on. I also wrote the donation letter to Save Mart asking for water donations; although they are unable to provide any for us we figured it out and are having people in class offer water donations. I also sold tickets throughout the week to help promote the event. Since the dance hasn’t happened yet we still have a few weeks to get a new DJ and to secure every detail with a little more confidence.
Mentorship Evaluation
My partner in the mentorship program is Emily Sesser who is our Public Relations Officer. Emily has reached out to me for help a few times and I’m glad that we have a working relationship where she feels comfortable to ask me questions. I’ve been able to effectively answer her questions and she has been successful in completing these tasks. I know that Emily has been communicating with Morty about Instagram posting, and creating posts for events.
Concerns
The only concern I have right now is about the freshmen representatives and how good I am of a mentor to them. I’m concerned that I’m not doing enough to make sure that they’re understanding what we’re doing and that I’m not supporting them in the delegation of their work. I’ve noticed that there’s only a few who do all of the work for their class.
Positive Comment
My positive comment is for Avery Redula; she has been working day and night and stressing about the stake of this dance and how it will set a precedent for our dances throughout the school year. She has been very detailed oriented and has taken care of so many things that I probably would’ve forgotten. I know how stressed she has been but I wanted to praise her for the amount of time, hard work, and tears she has put into trying to make this dance happen for our student body.
Change
The only thing I would like to change about my involvement in the class is with the freshmen because I feel that I can help them more than I am. But I also feel conflicted because I don’t want to baby them and do everything for them but I think I could be more proactive in trying to assist them. Instead of trying to show them how to do everything, I can try to help them delegate different tasks so all of the work is not put on to one person.
My Impact
I think I’ve made an effective impact thus far within my position in the student body. I’ve been making connections with students that I wouldn’t normally talk to, and supporting our events at Ripon High to give people a reason to come to school. My class schedule is not one that I necessarily like this year but it has given me the opportunity to connect with people outside of my own circle. For example I’ve made new friends that I probably wouldn’t have made if I had classes with my regular friends. It’s been hard adjusting to this new year for me but I’m excited to continue to grow these relationships with the student body.

ASB Report; September & October 2021

ASB President
October 12, 2021
Position Assessment
Throughout the months of September and October I was extremely busy with Homecoming planning with coronation, court, school work, and everything added on top. I started September with doing the Cool Hand Luke’s fundraiser and collected all the money and made sure it all added up to the number of tickets everyone sold. The fundraiser was very successful and we only had 7 tickets left over that were unsold. At the same time we were planning the Back to School Dance in trying to sell tickets, secure a location, get waters, and re-plan the whole dance with about 10 hours notice. The dance was rescheduled for two weeks later than the original date and it was still successful and we made a very good profit despite some of the other expenses we had to pay. Since the dance was rescheduled it came up right before the start of Homecoming so I was ordering supplies and planning the whole coronation event since that’s my role as ASB President. I kicked off Homecoming at the candidate reveal rally where I announced the Grand Marshal and I coordinated with Mr. Rangel to announce the court. I created a committee that was made up of every grade level and they were all very persistent in helping since I was on court and couldn’t fulfill my duties all the way. I filled out around six purchase orders for all of coronation in order to obtain all the supplies needed for the court and the king and queen reveal. I worked alongside my mom since she is the coronation committee chair and we did a lot of work outside of school to ensure that everything was put together for the king and queen reveal. Alongside my coronation duties, I helped the senior class throughout Homecoming by choreographing our lip sync, which we won, holding the 1st place title for three consecutive years. I also helped them in making posters and contributing supplies for the float. In the upcoming weeks I will me sitting down with all members of the class to discuss their evaluation I gave them. This weekend I will be making a balloon arch for the Halloween dance and I have helped the freshmen establish a location for the dance since there have been some complications.
Standing Committee
My standing committee of balloon arch worked hard and quickly to make a balloon arch for the Back to School Dance. That arch turned out to be really good and this weekend we will be working on another arch for the freshmen’s Halloween dance.
Special Committee
My special committee this month was coronation committee which I was in charge of. I worked alongside my mom to make the whole thing come together, and I also had a lot of help from the committee and people outside of it in completing tasks that I was unable to do since I was on court. We had multiple meetings to establish how we wanted to do the reveal and to lay out everyone’s jobs for the candidate reveal rally and coronation. It was a stressful time for me because of everything that I had to take care of but my committee was ready to help at any time.
Mentorship Evaluation
This month for my mentorship evaluation I had lunch with my partner, Emily. It was really nice and refreshing to sit down with her to just talk and hang out with someone that I usually don’t hang out with. It was also nice to get to know her a little better and it’s just very easy to talk and hang out with her so I’m glad I’ve gotten to know her over the past few months.
Concerns
A concern I have is just the amount of participation from the class in all aspects of leadership. For example, not everyone dresses up or even does the bare minimum by wearing the class color for a specific day. Of course I don’t expect everyone to go above and beyond in dressing up for spirit but we have options of wearing class colors for a reason and it doesn’t reflect well on the program if our own members don’t even participate in what we’re trying to put on. Another example is when we’re doing debriefs or pros and cons in class after an event and I only get responses from the same five people. Sometimes it’s frustrating for me to be up there because I want feedback and we need it to make things better for the future.
Positive Comment
My positive comment this month goes to Dillan Saltsman. Throughout all of Homecoming he texted me and asked if I needed help with anything or if there was anything he could do. He wasn’t a part of coronation committee but he let me know that he was willing to help in any way and I’m so thankful that he reached out to me because I did need extra help on coronation night and it was a big help for him to be there.
Change
Something I’d like to change isn’t anything specific about the class, but I want to change my work habits because I think this would benefit me and the rest of the class if I was more on top of what I needed to do. It’s not a huge issue but it’s definitely something I want to work on.
My Impact
I’ve been struggling with the compounds of my impact because I’ve felt like I haven’t done enough, although I’ve still been doing so much. It’s a hard concept and cycle for me to accept that I probably won’t feel my own impact but I want to see my efforts impacting others. But, I hope that me being more visible to the school in the past few weeks will help others receive my impact so I’ve been keeping my visibility and presence in mind while going through life.

ASB Report; November & December 2021

ASB President
December 9, 2021
Position Assessment
Throughout the months of November and December I’ve been able to step back from a lot of leadership projects since most of the events I’m in charge of have already passed. But I’ve still kept busy with applying to colleges and scholarships. In November I assisted the vice president’s with their coin fundraiser where I donated money and collected donations during lunch. I delegated a project to our technology commissioners; I had them compile a video of the whole class and everyone’s job positions because we haven’t been able to make a video like that in two years. I also helped head the CASL self study report. I contributed to my group’s article and I then went through the whole application and revised other group’s articles with Avery and Anthony. I also assisted the sophomores in cutting out snowflakes for warm and fuzzy week. I was able to provide help to the sophomores for winter formal by lending them my family’s space heaters so there would be more heat outside at the dance. I will be participating in Secret Santa and the Giving Tree for my final this year and I’ll be purchasing all of my supplies for that this weekend.
Standing Committee
The balloon arch committee will be making a balloon arch for the yearbook rally this upcoming week. This will be our first one since doing one last in October.
Special Committee
The special committee I was a part of throughout November and December was the CASL self study revision group. I sat down with Avery and Anthony to revise our application and make sure that it had sufficient content that would allow us to receive the award.
Mentorship Evaluation
As a mentor I feel that I’ve done an okay job. I’m able to help Emily whenever she has any questions but I want to challenge myself to be more of a friend and not just an “assigned partner”. So through the rest of the year I’m going to be more proactive in being helpful and friendly.
Concerns
My only concern in class right now is the amount of talking that goes on when either I’m talking or Morty is talking. It’s usually the same group of people who are disruptive and I don’t like telling people to be quiet but I have to in order to keep the class running smoothly. I think we should think of better ways to arrange where people sit so the same groups of people don’t gravitate towards each other and become even more disruptive and distracted.
Positive Comment
My positive comment is for all of the seniors because we’ve all just finished a really stressful and life-defining period after applying to all of our colleges. I’m proud of how hard everyone worked to make sure our applications were perfect while trying to keep up with all leadership events and the rest of our AP classes. I know that I pushed off doing my applications because I didn’t know where to start with some of my essays but we all helped each other throughout the whole process.
Change
Something I want to change through the rest of this year is who I interact with in class. It’s really easy for me to just talk with the friends in my grade and kids I’m already friends with, so I want to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone a little and connect with more people in class that I don’t usually get to work closely with. This will help me bond with more people so they’re willing to trust me and have an open mindset within the class.
My Impact
I think my impact over the past few months has been sticking to my values, and demonstrating that to people around me. It’s very easy for people in my grade to go along with the crowd and sacrifice their morals for the sake of being “cool.” But as my senior year has progressed I’ve seen more and more people becoming distant from the people they used to be and the values they used to hold themselves to. So I feel that my impact has been showing people that I’m able to stick to my morals and still have a good experience in high school and life in general.

Position Assessment
Throughout the month of January and beginning of February I was able to assist my class in our Winterfest activities, which was our last competitive spirit event of our high school career. Although I was busy with activities outside of leadership, I still made an effort to assist my class throughout Winterfest. January also involved recruitment and preparation for elections and interviews for next school year. I had several meetings with Morty, Avery, and Anthony discussing the components of the application and decision making process. It will be an intensive and strenuous process determining the outcome of next year’s program but we’re committed to cultivating a group of students who want to serve the student body. Along with preparing for the application process, I’ve been keeping events in the back of my mind that I know are coming up and we will work on as a class, including The Challenge, Gallery of the Arts, and Dodgeball. I’ve also been waiting on the “OK” to start working on my Meet the Pros presentation for the CASL conference, pending the status of the conference.
Standing Committee
Within the past month, the balloon arch committee has constructed one balloon arch that was used for the Winterfest basketball game. I wasn’t able to attend the game or build the arch because I had a dance competition but from what I heard it went well.
Special Committee
The special committee I’m apart of this month is the Recruitment/Interview committee. I’ve been working with Morty, Avery, and Anthony to prepare for the upcoming interviews and elections. I’ll also be attending the elementary schools to recruit for the incoming freshmen.
Mentorship Evaluation
I haven’t really been able to talk to Emily much since we haven’t been sitting together and I’ve been occupied with other things, but from what I’ve seen she’s been doing well in the program and has really started to get the hang of things. There hasn’t been a lot to do for her job lately but she is still diligent in class and is willing to help wherever.
Concerns
My only concern at the moment is how the dynamic of the class will change after elections are over. People will have to lose their election, people will not make it back into the program; it’s all inevitable. But I hope that people value the state and dynamic of our program at the moment in order to not disrupt the system we already have in place.
Positive Comment
This month my positive comment goes to April Yan. I think April is one of the most driven and creative people in the program and I feel like she’s underappreciated. I’ve loved getting to sit next to her and get to know her over the past few weeks. She is always on top of her work and puts in a lot of effort into everything she does. The work she did for Winterfest was amazing and I’m glad she will get to carry that creativity into her senior year.
Change
One thing I’d like to change is frequency of when we do the book study, because I don’t think we do it enough. I think the conversations and perspectives that are shared during that are really useful and interesting. I know we don’t always have time to do them but I hope that throughout the rest of the spring semester we can do them more often.
My Impact
I feel that I’ve made a positive impact within the program since we last did a report because I went through the reports and read concerns, then addressed those concerns to hopefully make our program stronger. I was then able to come back and January and implement a new app that stimulates communication within the class, and involves everyone. The dynamic of the class has felt much better over the past few weeks and I’m glad everyone is starting to get comfortable again.

ASB Report; February & March

Position Assessment
Throughout the months of February and March I have been extremely busy with all aspects of my life as my time at Ripon High and childhood is winding down. In the beginning of February I completed my elder project about not having to feel confined to one passion, and how we should be able to explore many aspects of life. Soon after I spent a whole Saturday with Avery, Anthony, and Morty conducting interviews for next year’s leadership class. It was a very emotionally taxing day but we were proud to say that each person did extremely well in their interview and that’s why it was so hard to make decisions. Along with conducting interviews, I had the opportunity to visit elementary school sites with the counselors and tell the 8th graders about our program and how they can get involved. We felt that the interest was very high when we went to each school, but had a low turnout for actual 8th grade interviews. At the end of February I assisted Link Crew with 8th grade welcome day alongside all of the seniors. This was a great experience for us to still be involved with the future of Ripon High although we weren’t directly involved. We spent the morning setting up the gym and food for the first BBQ in over two years. I also worked at the Almond Blossom parking lot fundraiser and helped direct traffic with Anthony, Derek, and Kade. The first week of March was spent planning The Challenge since Morty was gone at CADA. Initially I was terrified and had no idea where to start but I was able to successfully delegate jobs to each student in the class making sure everyone was involved with the planning process. I was in Dallas on the final planning day of The Challenge but I was able to put my trust into Avery in preparing the class for our presentation the following week. I also attended the dodgeball tournament and supported our Athletics commissioners in all of their hard work that was put into the event. I conducted 8th grade leadership interviews for the upcoming school year with Avery, Makenzie, and David; it was a short day but we ended up accepting six students to be our incoming Freshmen Representatives. I was also able to support Gallery of the Arts by helping set up the event, as well as attend the event and experience an art filled evening. I spent about a week and a half preparing for my Meet the Pros presentation that I would be giving at the CASL State Conference. I submitted my application to be a presenter in February and was accepted to present on my voter registration drive. So I went to CASL with Makenzie and we fulfilled our commitment of going through the conference to accept the Outstanding Leadership Program award. I got to walk across the stage and accept our fourth Outstanding Leadership Program award. I was also given the opportunity to speak at the board meeting with Emma so we shared our information and every day obligations with the school board so they can see how hard we work for our student body. Although the school year is coming to an end, these have been some the busiest months of my life with leadership and I’m glad I’ve been able to fit everything into the last few months of high school!
Standing Committee
I am apart of the Balloon Arch committee and we didn’t construct any balloon arches in February or March. But we will be creating pillars and arches for the Tribe Awards and College Reveal Night in April and May.
Special Committee
The special committees I was apart of were the Interview/Recruitment committee and overseeing all the committees for The Challenge. I conducted all of the interviews for next year’s leadership class and was able to recruit 8th graders by attending some the high school counseling presentations at the elementary schools. The Challenge provided me the opportunity to oversee all committees involved and to delegate tasks to each committee so we could create a collaborative and engaging event.
Mentorship Evaluation
I’ve had a great time with Emily over the past few months! I was able to help her with getting her website all set up for mock interviews. We were also in the same group for working on the triangles for Gallery of the Arts so that was another chance for us to work together. During elections/interviews we felt that it was best to put Emily at a class officer position because we felt that she had really grown as a leader this year and we knew she could handle taking a step up into a more demanding role.
Concerns
My concern right now is my self-motivation at this moment! It’s really hard for me to find any motivation because I’m already into college and am ready to start the next phase of my life so it’s hard for me to come back to Ripon High and go through the same routine that I’ve done for the past four years. But I just have to remind myself that I didn’t work extremely hard throughout all of high school to just start slacking off in the last six weeks of my high school career.
Positive Comment
This month my positive comment goes to Abby Thompson because she has been through so much in a short span of time, but she always tries to stay as positive as possible. I know how much she wants to be at school and at all of the events and I appreciate that she always does her best to make the most of her situation.
Change
Something that I’d like to change about class for the next few weeks is starting to do fireworks again haha. We started off really strong in the beginning of the year doing them at the end of every class period and I think it would be a cool, full circle moment to be able to finish the school year doing them again!
My Impact
Over the past few months I feel that my impact and legacy is losing its importance and prevalence as I’m moving on with life and entering the next stage of my life. It’s a hard feeling to explain because obviously I’m leaving a legacy and impact at the moment, but as soon as I graduate everything changes for me, but life goes on for everyone else. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but it’s just weird to think that everyone will show up for the first day of school in August and I’ll be moved on with life but I still hold all the memories and lessons from high school.

ASB Report; April & May

Position Assessment
Throughout the final months of April and May I worked on the Challenge, the banquet, made balloon arches, finished my elder project, and conducted my farewells. In April I helped make balloon pillars for the Tribe Awards with the balloon committee. I completed my mock interview over zoom with students who attend Cal Poly and are in my major. I was able to gain a lot of advice and insight to the school itself and I learned about major specific design labs that I’ll have to do in a few months. I also participated in Love Ripon by writing cards to police, firefighters, and the military. As we were nearing the end of April I contacted groups and committees for the Challenge to prepare for the week long event. Everything seemed to be going fine but as we know there were communication issues along the way. I was personally in charge of the Teacher Appreciation day committee where we organized a breakfast and goodie bags for all the teachers. Members of the committee put the bags together and I went to Costco with Morty and Bryan to get supplies that we needed. I was also in contact with many people in putting on the dance, and I think the dance itself was successful. The next event I worked on was College Reveal Night where I constructed my final balloon arch. We got it done fast and well, and were able to set it up in the gym. As all of this was going on I was also preparing for the banquet. In the weeks leading up to the banquet I was doing write ups for the teacher certificates and figuring out the schedule for the banquet. We set up for the banquet on the day of and used decorations from the storage room that we already had. I’ll be completing everyone’s individual evaluations by Friday. I’ve also been working with Morty, Jaydin, and Ava to put on the end of the year rally. At the end of April I did my farewells to each grade level and then individuals in the class. This was very emotional as you all saw, but I’m grateful to have been able to express it.
Standing Committee
The standing committee I was active in this month was the Balloon Arch Committee. We made balloon pillars for the Tribe Awards and then made a balloon arch for College Reveal Night.
Special Committee
I was apart of the Challenge committees this month. I oversaw each committee’s progress but was specifically in the teacher appreciation committee. I ordered all of the items and worked with the committee to put the goodie bags together. I also went to Costco to get the food that we’d need for the teacher breakfast.
Mentorship Evaluation
Over the past month I’ve been able to help Emily with her website. Whether we were working on stuff for mock interviews or working on the multiple projects page. She’s learned a lot about using Weebly and I’m glad I could help her and show her my website as reference for some of the pages.
Concerns
My only concern is personal, and it’s my motivational level at this point in the school year. My grades are fine but everything just feels pointless because I know I’m going to graduate and I just want to be able to relax.
Positive Comment
My positive comment this month is for Claire Morris. She took initiative in wanting to head the dance decoration committee for the challenge and I really appreciate the work that she did. The decorations looked great despite the issues with the wind, and I’m just generally excited to see what she does in the future.
Change
I know I said this in my last report that I wanted to start doing fireworks again and I never did them because I forgot. But I think for the last week we should do fireworks every day to finish how we started.
My Impact
Wow this is actually really sad. This is my last ASB Report after being in the program for the past four years. As this is my last report, I think it’s fitting to talk about my impact throughout high school. Coming into high school I was shy, and kept to myself but I believe that with the help of this program I’ve been able to come out of my shell and utilize my abilities to impact those around me. Morty, I never saw this in myself but what you said about me when presenting the Francis award made me realize that I am capable of leading and impacting others. I’ve doubted myself in everything I’ve ever been involved in but you’ve given me the opportunity and confidence to lead others. So I hope to leave a lasting impact of not being a follower and creating your own path, learning to believe in yourself, and showing others how to believe in themselves as well; just as you did for me.
